Matt Lewis on Good Government
The underlying cause of Ohio’s problems is our poorly managed government. From the failing education in our public schools, to the progressive tax structure bankrupting Ohio, and the regulatory systems that make Ohio the 3rd most expensive state to conduct business in; all signs point to the leadership in Columbus. The existing political system is broken. The 33rd District and our State need leadership that will stand on common-sense principles to fix our State.
The evidence of the State’s poor management is easy to see. Our state legislature is unable to reach agreements on vitally important budget bills until the 11th hour. We have a divided legislature which works against each other from the smallest line-items to confirming gubernatorial appointees. Additionally, these disagreements are fueled by uncontrollable lobbyists who buy our legislators votes. Finally at the top, we have a governor watching over 400,000 of our jobs flee Ohio for other business friendlier states while apologizing for the latest scandal out of his mansion.
There is a real chance that we can make the right change in our district and actually elect representation that will be noticed. For decades, we have endured the constant decline in our area while Columbus has constantly taken us for granted. When the Democrats are writing bills, allocating funds, and awarding grants, they never give the Valley anything; they don’t need to. They know that we will always vote Democrat - our votes are in the bag. When the Republicans are in power, they do the same because they know we will never vote Republican. The one-party system has failed the 33rd district, and the Valley families have been suffering for it. Now is the time to change this. We the people are tired of the politics and tired of being ignored.
We need a government in Columbus that is accountable to the Ohio Citizen. Our government should listen to what we want, not tell us what we are going to get. We need a Senator who is willing to stand up to special interests and fight for the values that Ohioans believe in. Matt Lewis wants to clean up Columbus and usher in a new era of good government which works for the people, not the lobbyists. We need someone who can be the voice for our district; Matt wants to be that voice.
